Description

The PLATATAC Jungle Kurtz Shirt is a modern jungle field shirt inspired by the U.S. Vietnam-era OD jungle uniform, reimagined for contemporary operational use.

Cut with a close, athletic fit and a long tail designed to stay tucked during movement, the Jungle Kurtz maintains a clean profile while allowing unrestricted mobility in dense terrain and hot climates. Constructed from durable 50/50 NYCO rip-stop, it balances toughness with breathability for extended wear in demanding environments.

Strategic mesh drainage and ventilation improve airflow during high activity and allow water to shed quickly in wet conditions. A zip and bar-button front closure provides redundancy while allowing the shirt to be worn partially open to maximise airflow in warm weather.

With a practical pocket layout designed to remain accessible when wearing webbing or load carriage equipment, the Jungle Kurtz is a modern evolution of the classic jungle field shirt—built for operations, training and range work.

Also available in Hot Weather Climate variant.

A must-have for webbing users.

Since I started using webbing, I have been looking for a proper field shirt. A field shirt worn with webbing is a time-tested concept, but it has become surprisingly hard to find a modern version today. Most modern combat shirts are designed around plate carriers. They work well under armour, but they are not always ideal for use with webbing. The IHWCU is excellent, but it lacks useful storage pockets. Older BDU and S95 shirts have great functionality, but they do not have the comfort, materials, and modern design features of current clothing.

The Kurtz Jungle Shirt fills that gap perfectly. It is extremely comfortable, breathable, quick drying, and very pleasant against the skin. More importantly, it works very well with webbing. The chest and arm pockets are highly practical, and many of the pockets include dummy cord attachment points and drainage features. They are useful for carrying small tools, notebooks, markers, gloves, or other field admin items.

Although the shirt has large chest pockets, it can still be worn with a plate carrier for short periods if needed. However, its best role is clearly as a modern field shirt for webbing, light field use, and hot weather environments.

The only thing to be careful about is sizing. Platatac sizing runs large, and this shirt has a very generous military field fit. If you are used to US sizing, I would recommend sizing down at least one full size. The shirt is also quite long and seems designed to be tucked into the trousers. If it looks too long or too loose at first, try tucking it in. It immediately looks much cleaner. For casual use, it can also work as an oversized overshirt.

For reference, I normally wear US Medium Regular. I bought Small Regular for field use, and it still has plenty of room. If I wanted a more casual daily-wear fit, I would probably choose X-Small Regular.

Overall, this is an excellent modern jungle / field shirt, especially for webbing users. It combines the practical pocket layout of older BDU / S95-style shirts with modern comfort, materials, and design details. I am very satisfied with it.

XL actually fits well on a 49 chest the XXL does fit a bit loser and a tad more comfy because of the extra material but is a little too lose on the wrist both will work for my needs regardless. I was more concerned about the size difference between US and EU so i bought two sizes larger than i normally would but in the end works out well. And will put them both trough thier own paces during training and comps.
